- The tour includes a visit to a cameo factory, the cameo is a typical Roman jewel found during excavations at Herculaneum and Pompeii in 1748. In the factory, you will see a craftsman at work, the cameo is a jewel made from shells and precious stones and is engraved by hand by the craftsman. The visit to the factory will allow you to use the toilets free of charge before entering the excavations, so the stop at the cameo factory as well as being informative is essential in terms of managing the visit to the excavations of Pompeii
